The disorders of the digestive system are most commonly due to viral or bacterial infections that are inflammatory to the intestinal tract. The parasites of the intestines mainly hookworm, tapeworm, threadworm, pinworm, roundworm, etc also causes digestive system disorders.


The most common kinds of digestive system disorders are as follows:


1. Diarrhea:

The abnormality and fast passage of waste materials through the large intestine during bowel movements is called diarrhea. It results in frequent defecation with increased liquidity of the fecal discharge and sometimes cramps. It reduces the absorption of food. It leads to dehydration of the body.

Causes:
  • Dysentery.
  • Cholera.
  • Excess alcohol intake.
  • Food poisoning.
  • Side effects of the drug.
  • Highly seasoned foods.
  • Spicy foods.
  • Sudden variation in food habits, etc.


Results: Weakness, weight loss, dizziness, joint pains, dark circles, fatigue, etc.

2. Indigestion:

  • Sleeping immediately after the meal.
  • Smoking.

It usually causes a change in the color of eye whites and fingernails. The production of bilirubin may be excess or inadequate by a liver. It may also be due to impaired bile flow.

4. Vomiting:

Vomiting is usually defined as the forcible ejection of the stomach contents from the mouth, it is a result of nausea. Sometimes vomiting may also occur without nausea (after extreme physical or mental effort). The medulla oblongata is believed to control and initiate vomiting by a series of muscle contractions beginning at the small intestine and moving through the stomach, esophagus, and finally through the mouth.

Causes:
  • Illness.
  • Certain drugs.
  • Excessive mental and physical stress.
  • Motion sickness.
  • Seasickness.
  • Altitude sickness.
  • Head injury.
  • Inner ear disorders.
  • Excessive consumption of food and water, etc.

Results: Dehydration, severe vomiting result in esophagus wall rupture, malnutrition, weakness, etc.

  • Smelling lemon helps to reduce nausea.
  • Drink ginger tea.
  • Do not lay down immediately after a meal.
  • Stop inhaling if you smell foul odors.
  • Consuming cold foods.
  • Try to eat bread and toasts.
  • Stop consuming excess alcohol.
  • Do not consume excess food and water while traveling.
  • Try to consume certain spices like cinnamon, clove, cardamom, etc.


5. Constipation:

Constipation is defined as a condition in which a patient is unable to pass bowel movements for weeks or more. It is a result of the difficulty in the passage of stools or infrequent bowel movements. In this condition, the patient usually suffers from pain or burning sensation of the anus while passing stools.

Causes:
  • Stress.
  • Drinking less water.
  • Consuming food low in fiber.
  • Change in a routine diet.
  • Traveling.
  • Spicy Foods.
  • Insufficient exercise.
  • Eating raw foods containing low fluid.
  • Consuming much of milk and milk products, etc.

Results: Constipation leads to bowel movements 2-3 times a week, hard stools, stressful and painful bowel movements, feeling of blockage of the rectum, abdominal pain, foul odor of fart, etc.

  • Consume plenty of water.
  • Do not eat spicy foods.
  • Perform yoga and exercise in the early morning.
  • Do not change your routine diet frequently.
  • Do not eat too much raw and processed food.
  • Eat fresh foods.
  • Consuming foods rich in fibers like oats, barley, Dalia, broccoli, etc.
  • Consuming lemon juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, etc.
  • Drinking warm water.
  • Consume half teaspoon of castor oil.
  • Consuming boiled milk, etc.
