AHS Course- B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology
B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology is a medical professional course, completing the course the candidates will be medical field graduates but not a physician or doctors. They work with the operation team in the operation theatre during critical surgeries and aid the surgeon and other team staff in the surgical processes. The OT technician may not be able to prescribe the patient but they play a very important role in hospitals equally important to other medical professionals.
B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology And B.Sc Anaesthesia Technology is combined to form a course B.Sc Operation Theatre And Anaesthesia Technology.
Type Of Course:
BSc. Operation Theatre Technology comes under Allied Health Science courses.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The candidate should have completed 10th school and two years (11th and 12th) of pre-university college with a minimum of 55%-60% result in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
- They can also acquire admission in B.Sc OTT course after completing their diploma in operation theatre technology (DOTT) with a minimum of 55% result.
Admission Mode:
- Entrance exams that are conducted by the government.
- Direct admission based on the merit of PCB %.
- Entrance exam conducted by the private institution.

Fee Structure In Government Institutions: 10,000-20,000 annually ($136-$272) in India.

Duration Of The Course:
- The duration of this course was 3 years + 6 months internship until the batch 2018-2019.
- From the batch 2019-2020, the duration of the course is 3 years + 1-year internship.
- Some institutions follow 6 semesters + 1-year internship.
- Some institutions follow 3 years (Exams once in a year) + 1-year internship.

- The candidates should gain consciousness of performing multiple tasks at the same moment.
- They should have good knowledge in the subjects like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology, microbiology, etc.
- They should perform the tasks with care, as a simple mistake can lead to serious complications with the patient life.
- They should have good communication skills to coordinate with OT staff during surgeries.
- They should develop attentive, patient, kind, disciplined behavior.
- Should be capable of using a computer to input or extract the required data.
- They should care for and manage the drugs in the OT settings.
- They should upgrade their skills with new developments in the operation field.

The average salary for fresher as job profile of operation theatre technicians in India is 1.8 lakh-3.6 lakh ($2,460-$4,920) annually.
However, the salary for operation theatre technology graduates is huge abroad like in Norway, Canada, Australia, New York, Dubai, etc. But requires a minimum of 2 years' experience to work abroad.
