Facts About Covid-19 Vaccination And Oxygen Cylinder Demand
Vaccination is a procedure of administration of vaccine into the patient body mostly through injecting intramuscularly in the region of the forearm.
The Covid-19 vaccines are prepared by altering or using a part of the virus that helps in boosting the body's immunity against coronavirus.
The Vaccination involves two doses, the second dose is given after completing 28 days of 1st dose of the vaccine.
How Does It Work:
You came to know about the vaccine and its benefits of boosting immunity in the body, but not all vaccines work the same.
Different vaccines have different periods of developing immunity in the body to fight against the specific virus.
The vaccines when injected into the body immediately do not provide immunity to the body against the virus, but it requires a certain period of time that helps the body cells to develop immunity.
In the case of Covid-19 vaccines, the immunity in the body starts developing after 15-20 days of the final dose of the vaccine.
Side-Effects Of Covid-19 Vaccination:
The side effects of the vaccine also depend on the immune response of the body. They include:
- Pain in forearm region of vaccination
- Headache
- Chills
- Fever
- Nausea
- Illness
- Redness of vaccinated region
- Fatigue or tiredness
- Allergic reactions
- Swollen lymph nodes, etc.
How Much Time Does It Take To Develop Immunity After Taking Covid Vaccine?
The time or duration for developing immunity against the virus after completing the course of vaccination is two-three weeks.
If you complete the first dose of the vaccine and fail to get the second dose then the body would not develop the immune response against the virus.
You should complete the course of vaccination in the appropriate duration.
Can You Test Positive To Covid-19 After Taking The Vaccines?
According to scientists and researchers, the chances of getting positive to Covid-19 is possible if you have completed only one dose of the vaccine or few days of the second dose. The immunity develops after 15-20 days of completing the second dose of vaccine and hence there are higher chances of testing positive to covid-19.
Some people believe that even after completing the course of vaccination and the above-mentioned duration, the vaccinated person is prone to test positive for coronavirus. But, we would like to clear the confusion among the citizens that not all the people vaccinated are risky to be tested positive to corona. Rarely and about 0.1 percent of people vaccinated might have the chance of getting infected with the virus due to other underlining health issues that might cause weak or reduced immune power in the body.
Why Do You Feel Pain In Vaccinated Hand Or Get Fever After Vaccination?
The sensation of pain in your arms is caused due to the local reactions of the muscles of your arm with the dosage of vaccine injected into the intramuscular region. It is not a serious issue to get panic or stress. If you want to avoid or take precautions for such pains then take a pain killer after vaccination and take rest of a while and this may help you to cope with the pain.
Few people might also feel headaches, chills, fever, nausea, and other symptoms after getting vaccinated, but you need not worry. In fact, these symptoms are the indications that the vaccine works properly in your body and is successfully building protection or developing immunity in your body.
How Long Does Immunity Last After Taking Covid-19 Vaccine?
According to the latest studies, the vaccines successfully provide immunity against the virus for at least six to eight months and more. But, it might require a booster dose to provide long-term immunity against the virus.
Why Oxygen Cylinders Are At Great Demand During Corona Second Wave?
Starting from few weeks, the demand for oxygen cylinders throughout the country has been rapidly increasing. The reasons behind this are very serious, covid patients are struggling for their lives in the hospitals and the country is facing a higher rate of mortality of covid patients due to a shortage of cylinders in the hospital.
The second wave of the corona has been spreading very easily and lakhs of people are testing positive to corona per day. In India, more than 3 lakhs of covid cases are reported on a daily basis and this is worse than the previous year. Such a rapid rise in the covid cases is leading to a shortage of medical equipment to treat them among which is the oxygen cylinder. Oxygen cylinders are very crucial to treat the covid patients and this is causing higher demand.
Can Vaccination Affect The women On Periods?
When the government declared that from May 1st all the citizens above the age of 18 would likely get the vaccination, few messages were circulating among the citizens stating that females on periods or menstruation are at higher risk of getting coronavirus after vaccination. It also states that girls should make a note of their periods so that they could avoid vaccination before 5 days of periods and after 5 days of periods reasoning that during periods the immunity in the female body is reduced and after the vaccination, it firstly decreases the immunity and later on develops the immunity of the body against the virus. Most of the people believed this as true and started forwarding the message without checking the fact.
But, soon another news came out stating that the vaccination has no proven bad effects on menstruation. This news was confirmed by one of the healthcare workers. So, there is no evidence relating that females on periods after vaccination are at higher risk of testing positive for the virus.
Vaccination Effects On Blood Donors And Blood Banks:
You all know that from May 1st every individual aging above 18 years is provided with vaccination, but do you know that this can also cause a shortage of blood in the blood banks?
Yes, it is true. The person cannot donate the blood for the next 28 days after getting vaccinated. This is because after vaccination the blood is not suitable for donation due to immunity changes and greater chances of causing a hypersensitive reaction in the recipient. Thus, if everyone above 18 years gets vaccinated then there may be no donor left. This might result in a shortage of blood in the blood banks.
As you all know that there is a shortage of oxygen cylinders to the covid patients throughout the country, now is the time to prevent the shortage of blood in the blood banks. So try to donate your blood before you get vaccinated.
